New Sites Conference Attended - Sunday, November 29, 2009

Confidence is high as the Goolwa & District Community Bank confirms Director appointments to its future Board. Three of the confirmed Directors recently attended an induction programme for start-up Community Banks held in Bendigo by the Bendigo & Adelaide Bank. David Benda, Alistair Angus and Carol Gaston completed the 2 day programme which included a day conducted by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Experienced Directors of established Community Banks shared their learnings. The location of the Bank, the relationship between the Board and the Branch Manager, and getting those first sponsorships out to our schools and clubs early on were all important lessons.

They heard that not one of the 244 Community Banks established in the last 12 years has closed and between them have invested over $30million dollars into their communities.

They were also reminded that on reaching the mark of $10m on the bank’s books The Goolwa & District Community bank will have $10,000 to distribute in sponsorships to schools and clubs.
